2026 Regranting Process
The BIPOC Intentional Community Council is excited to launch our 2026 grant program. The intention of this grant is to support BIPOC intentional community member organizations with priority projects or initiatives that are self-determined directly by those communities.
The BIPOC Council’s mission is to cultivate radically safe and inclusive communities for Black, Indigenous, and People of Color by providing inspiration, solidarity, and support to those seeking to find or found communities, and to those already living in community. We value BIPOC contributions towards collective liberation, healing, and community building, and are committed to combating anti-Blackness and building racial justice within intentional communities.
In October 2025, we allocated $5,000 for this grant. Equity Trust has donated $10,000 to support us, bringing our total amount available to $15,000.
Our fundraising goal is $40,000 by January 1, 2026!
BIPOC Intentional Community Council members, made up of both BIPOC-led intentional communities and BIPOC folks who live in or orient to intentional communities and land projects, will have the opportunity to apply for the BIPOC Fund. Our regranting committee–made up of both board members and non-board members of the BIPOC Intentional Community Council–will decide how to distribute the funds out. This will be guided by our shared values of supporting BIPOC leadership and self-determination for BIPOC-led intentional communities and projects that are bringing clear visions, feasibility, and capacity for implementation.
The Scope of the Need
To give you an idea of the need, previous Council members applied seeking support for:

- Greenhouses and fencing
- Supplies and equipment for solidarity economy projects
- Addressing structural issues in existing structures
- Accessibility features
- Solar and regenerative energy systems
- Water infrastructure
Mutual aid:

- Essential resources for elders
Compensation reciprocity:

- Part time stipends for intentional community leadership or planning
- Compensation for promoters and advisory committees
Programs:
- Hosting cooperative incubators and business development programs
- Indigenous language and cultural immersion programs
- Transportation and food costs for land based gatherings and work parties
While we know that the need within our network for redistribution of resources, money, and land is much larger than what we can meet, we are offering what we have with the hopes that this funding can be a step towards the thriving of BIPOC-led intentional community groups and projects.
BIPOC Intentional Community Council History
The BIPOC Council was born during the 2020 racial justice uprisings from a strong core of majority Black women leadership. The group was initiated by the Foundation for Intentional Community, which is a majority white network that supports intentional communities. The FIC recognized the need for a similar space that offered resources and networking specifically for BIPOC-led intentional communities and committed to donating 10% of its unrestricted funds to the Council. The Council incorporated and gained 501c3 status in 2023 and serves over 200 members.
The Council has hosted regular support calls since 2021. They are an ongoing virtual space for Council members to connect, share insights, questions, and calls to action. The Council has also hosted and sponsored multiple events, including an in person BIPOC Farmers and Intentional Communities Conference in 2025.
We are a small capacity organization with no full time staff. Most of our work is done from volunteer labor by our board, which is majority Black women. Over the course of the organization’s life, we notice that the resources and support were abundant around the heightened moment of 2020 and have since decreased rather than increased. Any support to grow our regranting fund is appreciated.
