About Me | Serenity Community for Justice and Peace is a new and emerging Intentional Community and Ecovillage currently located in Louisa, VA. Louisa County has at least 6 successful intentional communities who have pledged their support to help us. The Other communities in the area are open to guests and visitors at arranged times. We are building a farming commune that grows most of its food and herbal medicines. We are led primarily by Black, Indigenous, and People of Color. We will focus on racial, restorative, social, and economic justice, direct action activism. We are dedicated to empowering families and people of color who have no generational wealth and have had no access to land for many generations. Serenity members will help those in need by providing options that will ensure a prosperous future for our brothers and sisters. We are an income-sharing community, which means a portion of income produced by members, either in a community-owned business or outside work, goes directly to meeting the needs of Serenity Community. In exchange, the community provides for all the basic needs of its members, including housing, food, health care, etc. (People may define "basic" needs somewhat differently- we encourage speaking up for yourself and your needs). After meeting the needs of the land and its members, all profits are split up amongst members. We will share collective ownership of community resources, such as land, buildings, vehicles, etc. In many cases, neither money nor particular skills are required to join; simply a willingness to wholeheartedly join the community and commitment to live its purpose is sufficient. |
